The ICMR Centre for Advanced Research in Digital Mental Healthcare and the Microsoft-Funded Project on Digital Psychological Interventions, in collaboration with AIESEC Bengaluru, organized an engaging World Café on “Youth Mental Health in the Digital Era.” The event gathered over 200 young participants from diverse institutions to reflect, share, and co-create ideas on how digital platforms shape youth mental well-being.
Events Highlights
The World Café was structured around five thought-provoking questions, each facilitated by a student host. Participants rotated between tables, exchanging experiences and insights in an open, conversational format.
What can students do to manage struggles and strengthen their own well‑being?
How can students build and sustain supportive peer networks?
What can colleges and universities do to create responsive systems of support?

The dialogues culminated in a live Instagram campaign, where students pledged their support for suicide prevention and mental health — replacing stigma with understanding, silence with dialogue, and isolation with support.
The World Café created a safe, reflective, and collaborative space for young voices to share experiences and ideas about navigating mental health in the digital age. The ideas generated will inform future youth‑centered digital well‑being initiatives under ICMR‑CAR and allied projects at NIMHANS. The event reaffirmed the importance of empowering youth as active contributors in shaping digital mental health solutions—bridging science, technology, and lived experience to build a mentally healthier online ecosystem.
